About us

Equations of Disease (EoD) is an online training platform specialising in mathematical and statistical methods in epidemiology and ecology. EoD provides free and discounted training to learners from the Global South and operates as a social enterprise (community interest company number 12799124).

The paid for courses are currently only available to learners in the U.K., if you would like access in your country get in touch. The micro-courses cover small topics and are free for all. Materials are continually updated, feedback or suggestions for new topics are very welcome.

I created Equations of Disease (EoD) to support the next generation of epidemic modellers and epidemiologists, through the delivery of high quality training in the mathematics and statistics. The mission of EoD is to support decolonisation of global health by making this training accessible to learners from the Global South.

Dr Amanda Minter

Equations of Disease founder

The courses I develop aim to equip you with the confidence to apply skills in mathematical modelling and data analytics in high-quality research, based on my experience working as an infectious disease modeller at the Big Data Institute University of Oxford, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and the University of Warwick.

Teaching

I have taught mathematical modelling, statistics and R programming to audiences ranging from undergraduate students to professionals.

Courses

I have designed and led courses internationally (University of Malaya and Federal University of Bahia, Brazil) and in the UK (University of Leeds, Warwick, LSHTM).

Education

Prior to this, I completed a doctorate in mathematical modelling of infectious disease at the University of Liverpool, following a Master’s degree in applied statistics from the University of Lancaster.
